Missouri’s medical marijuana community has been growing since 2018 when voters approved Amendment 2. From businesses to patients to caregivers, our community is getting larger. Looking at the numbers published by the Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), which oversees medical marijuana in Missouri, the story of our community emerges.
Missouri’s Medical Marijuana Patients Live Everywhere
Not surprisingly, where more people live, you find more patients across the state. But if you compare county population size to patients, it is a fairly even spread.
All Ages Represented
Medical marijuana has uses for ailments across ages, and Missouri patients span the generations.
(Covers June 2019-December 2019)
Patients aged 30-39 make up the largest portion at over 21 percent. While people aged 50-59 edge out the 40-49 crowd for second. Patients 60-69 are almost 17 percent, but if they are combined with the over 70 crowd, they make up the second largest share.
At Flora Farms, we take serving all ages seriously. Different phases of life can come with different challenges. Our budtenders are ready to consult with all patients about their needs.
Growing Community
In the last year, the community of patients has grown and grown! By July of 2020, over 64,000 people had applied as patients. By July 2021, the number had grown to over 166,000.

Behind the Scenes
A lot of work goes into providing medical marijuana to Missouri patients. Businesses you might not even think of help provide support, like lighting and garden suppliers, lawyers, contractors, transporters, technicians, and so many more.
Before medical marijuana makes it to the hands of patients, it undergoes a journey. Cultivators grow marijuana. Labs test product and verify safety. Manufacturers turn marijuana into products you know and love. And none of it could happen without transportation to move product safely and securely. Finally, product arrives in dispensaries where budtenders connect patients to what will best help them.
The Future Looks Bright for Missouri’s Medical Marijuana Patients
It’s impossible not to look over these insights into our growing community in Missouri and feel proud. Lots of hard work and dedication has gone into providing Missouri safe, healthy, and natural medical marijuana. At Flora Farms, we can’t wait to see what the future holds.
