The Story
The story of Blue Dream starts in Santa Cruz, California with two legendary strains: Haze, created by Dave Watson and distributed by the Haze Brothers in the 1970s, and Blueberry, created by DJ Short around the same time. Both hybrids were well-established and stable by the early 2000s when the rise of the medical market in California increased the demand for strains that are easier to produce commercially. The original creator of Blue Dream hasn’t taken credit for their creation, but around that time, a new clone-only hybrid called Blue Dream started to appear. It combined two very different strains. Haze is a strong sativa known for its energizing and creative effects created by crossing landrace strains from Columbia, Mexico, Thailand, and South India. Blueberry won the High Times’ Cannabis Cup in 2000 for Best Indica, known for its fresh blueberry flavor, relaxing and euphoric effects, created by crossing Purple Thai and Thai landrace strains.

Blue Dream itself won over cultivators, patients, and fans. The ease of growing this strain and its high yields helped shoot it to popularity as more and more cultivators turned to Blue Dream.
