Vape Temperatures: What Temps Work Best For Which Terpenes?
Vape Temperatures: What Temps Work Best For Which Terpenes?
December 10, 2020

One of the benefits of vaping cannabis is the ability to control your temperature. But that brings up some important questions. What temperature should you set your vaporizer to?  And how does temperature affect different strains? As we take a closer look keep in mind that, although these guidelines can apply to all, no two vaporizers will produce the same levels of effects. You will have to experiment on your own with vape temperatures and dosages to figure out what works best for you.

Best Temp For The Newcomer Or The Wake And Baker (325-350 degrees)

If you are new to vaping, starting at a lower temperature may be just the thing for you. THC has a boiling point of 315 degrees, so you’ll want to start your vaping temp at or above 325 degrees. This will ensure that you feel the effects of the specific train you’re vaping. At this lightly toasted temperature, you can be sure to experience the best flavor from your bud and it will provide you with a calming, light euphoria. Another great benefit of smoking at a lower temperature is that you can avoid the coughing, red eyes, and cottonmouth that tend to come with a higher temp.

This temperature works best for terpenes like Pinene, Caryophyllene, Myrcene, and Limonene.

Best Temp For Someone Looking For Stronger Effects & Flavor (350-400 degrees)

We’ll call the next step up in temperature the “half baked” setting. This is a great option for you to experiment with terpenes, but will also allow you to access the individual cannabinoids more fully. As opposed to the fresh taste you get from vaping at a lower temperature, you can experience a richer flavor at this temp. Like dark roasted coffee. As the vape heats up, you’ll gain more access to THC and will produce stronger psychoactive effects. This heat range will allow you to feel as though you are in a more relaxed state of mind without making you feel sleepy.

The Terpenes that contribute best to this vape temp are Limonene, Terpinolene, Linalool, and Humulene.

Best Temp For The Terp Connoisseur (400-430 degrees)

If you are someone who has been vaping or smoking for a while, you may find the most fulfilling experience from your vaporizer if you have it set anywhere between 400-430 degrees.  We’ll call this “fully baked.” This setting allows the cannabinoids to be fully extracted from the bud. Your vapor will be less flavorful compared to your lightly toasted or half-baked options, however, you will experience a far greater psychotropic effect than the lower temperatures provide. If you are wanting to have an intense, euphoric experience from vaping, this higher degree range will produce that for you. And if you’re looking for a specific temperature setting, we recommend 420 degrees. 😉
