After recently opening a medical marijuana cultivation center and a Neosho-based dispensary, the Flora Farms cannabis operation announced this week that its Humansville dispensary is to open on Saturday.

The Humansville store is the second of three dispensaries that Flora Farms is licensed to open.

The third store, located on North Glenstone Avenue in Springfield, is expected to open Feb. 13th, a spokesperson told the News-Leader late Tuesday. The Springfield Flora Farms is located roughly one mile south of Springfield’s first dispensary, Old Route 66 Wellness. Old Route 66 opened Nov. 2, two weeks after Missouri’s first lawful medical marijuana sales began taking place at dispensaries in the St. Louis region.

In a prepared statement, Flora Farms company president Mark Hendren said he and his team are “very excited” to be opening in Humansville, a Polk County community of some 1,100 people.

“Our team has put in a heroic amount of time and effort into these facilities, and we can’t wait to share them with the patients of Missouri,” Hendren said.

The Humansville store is located at 68 E. 300th Road and is expected to begin operating from 10 AM to 6 PM on Saturday.

As is the case with nearly all of Missouri’s dispensaries in the early months of the state-regulated medical marijuana system, supplies will be “very limited” at the Humansville dispensary. Sales are expected to include pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes made from four strains of the cannabis plant by Kansas City-based manufacturer Clovr.

Other manufactured marijuana products are “to roll out in the following weeks,” according to a Flora Farms news release. A spokesperson said late Tuesday that sales of cannabis flower (smokable marijuana buds) will begin as soon as possible.

The company plans to post sales updates to its website and social media platforms; search “Flora Farms Humansville MO” on Facebook.

Along with Flora Farms and Old Route 66, the Springfield area currently counts Cassville DispensaryOzaRX Botanicals and Nixa-based Missouri Joint Ventures among operating dispensaries allotted to the 7th Congressional District. All are closely-held companies started by groups of entrepreneurs including a military veteran, a medical doctor, pharmacists and accounting professionals.

Missouri medical marijuana:  State ‘working hard’ to get dispensaries, cultivators operating

Roughly two dozen medical cannabis dispensaries are active statewide, out of a constitutional minimum of 192 stores approved by voters in November 2018. Missouri government officials overseeing the medical marijuana system and cannabis trade association officials expect roughly 105 licensed medical marijuana businesses to be operating in the near future, out of more than 370 permitted applicants, a number that includes dispensaries as well as Missouri-based cultivation and manufacturing centers.

Since Missouri dispensary sales began Oct. 16, transactions have topped more than $7.6 million, according to data collected by Missouri marijuana authorities, despite shortages and long lines.

To date, roughly 98,000 Missourians have applied to state authorities for patient or caregiver medical marijuana ID cards.
