It’s right there in our mission statement: “Flora Farms is dedicated to supplying Missouri’s Medical Marijuana card holders with world-class, high-quality cannabis products to help manage their underlying medical issues and the symptoms that accompany them.” That is why we’re so proud to bring you our CBDa tincture. This hemp-derived full spectrum tincture is a quality product meant to work with your body. Are you curious about CBDa, what it is and how it can help? We’re answering all those questions.

What’s CBDA?

Cannabidiolic acid (CBDa) is a compound produced by hemp and marijuana, which are both cultivars of the Cannabis sativa plant. In live plants, CBDa and THCa are the precursors to the more famous cannabinoids CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol. In their acid forms, neither compound is psychoactive. CBDa converts to CBD with heat, through a process called decarboxylation. Our CBDa tincture uses a cold-water extraction and oil process to capture CBDa and other plant compounds from living hemp plants.

What does CBDa do?

Infographic about the benefits of CBDAYou might be familiar with what CBD can do: relieve pain, reduce inflammation, reduce nausea, to name a few. Studies of CBDa have found the compound can do similar things, but perhaps, more effectively than CBD. CBD and CBDa interact with the 5-HT1A serotonin receptor. This receptor is thought to affect such things as anxiety, addiction, appetite, sleep, pain, nausea, and vomiting. CBDa has a 100 fold stronger affinity for 5-HT1A than CBD. This is due in part to being more bioavailable, meaning the body uses it sooner and with less effort.

In another study, researchers noted similarities between the structure of some nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and CBDa. CBDa is a selective inhibitor for COX-2. COX-2 is an enzyme which causes inflammation. By inhibiting this enzyme, CBDa reduces inflammation.

Researchers have also investigated the CBDa’s ability to reduce nausea and vomiting. Again, CBDA outperformed CBD. Another study looked into the antioxidant properties of CBDa, finding it was able to “inhibit the migration of breast cancer cells” in addition to reducing inflammation.

Why choose Flora Farm’s CBDa Tincture?

We start with the highest quality hemp so we can deliver a high-quality product. Oil is extracted via a proprietary cold-water extraction, no harsh solvents involved. Our product stays natural and clean the entire way through.

Our CBDa tincture is a true full spectrum product. The cannabinoids and terpenes in the plant are never altered. They deliver a full “entourage effect” for optimal results.

Lastly, but certainly not least important, our oils are manufactured in a cGMP certified facility. This is a pharmaceutical level certification enforced by the FDA and sets the bar on the quality of our products.

Who benefits from CBDA?

Flora Farms CBDa bottles against a wood backdropAnyone with nausea, neuropathy, inflammation, or anxiety, to name a few, could benefit from daily CBDa consumption. When taken daily, even at low dosages, patients report positive effects. Patients like Heidi Trout, co-founder of Cannabis Care Team, who recently tried our CBDa tincture and wrote in to tell us about her experience.

“I started taking CBD 2 years ago to help with back, knee and shoulder pain from past injuries. At 61, I feel the best I’ve felt for 10 years, but my knee and lower back always act up at the most inconvenient times. I bought the Flora Farms CBDa on a Thursday and by Sunday my lower back pain was gone, yes, gone…my knee is better and I haven’t had to baby it as much in exercise class. I still take all my other forms of CBD – tincture, vape, flower but the CBDa has been a game changer for me.”
